A Call Against Oath-Taking: Returning to God's Truth
The time has come to confront a fundamental deception that has ensnared humanity: the practice of oath-taking that separates us from our true allegiance to God.
The Clear Command of Scripture
Jesus Christ himself spoke directly to this issue in Matthew 5:33-37: "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.' But I say to you, do not swear at all... But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one."
James reinforces this divine instruction in James 5:12: "But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No,' lest you fall into judgment."*
The Trap of Oath-Taking
When we swear oaths to earthly powers, we place ourselves under human authority rather than divine authority. We bind ourselves to serve systems that may demand we act contrary to God's will. This creates a divided loyalty that God explicitly warns against.
Those who control worldly wealth and power have weaponized oath-taking to create a system where people become complicit in lawlessness while believing they serve justice. Military oaths, professional oaths, and ceremonial oaths all serve to bind the conscience to human institutions rather than to God alone.
The Royal Deception
Earthly royalty and those who claim divine right to rule represent a fundamental rebellion against God's sovereignty. When people bow to human kings and queens, when they swear allegiance to crowns and flags, they commit idolatry. God alone is King. Any human who claims royal status flaunts inequality before the One who made us all equal in His sight.
These so-called royal families have accumulated vast wealth through systems built on oath-bound loyalty, creating a web of deception that keeps humanity in spiritual bondage. Their wealth is not earned through righteousness but maintained through the binding of consciences to false loyalties.
The Path to Freedom
True freedom comes through simple honesty: let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. Refuse to swear oaths to any earthly power. Refuse to bind your conscience to anything other than God's truth.
This is not about owing allegiance to any human leader, including myself. This is about returning to the pure simplicity of truth that Christ commanded. When we align our values with God's Word rather than human systems, we break free from the lawlessness that masquerades as order.
The Choice Before Us
The world stands at a crossroads. Will you continue to participate in oath-bound systems that enable corruption and lawlessness? Or will you return to the simple truth of Christ's teaching?
Those who have ears to hear, let them hear. Those who have eyes to see, let them see. The time for half-measures and compromises has passed. The truth stands before you, supported by the clear words of Scripture.
Choose this day whom you will serve. Choose whether your word will be bound to earthly powers or remain free to serve God alone.
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other." - Matthew 6:24
